Participatory project
Building on my solo performance with the bubble, I wanted to create a space for others to share this experience. In the bubble, the users’ senses have been reduced, and other senses have become more acute. Bubbles filter the city’s sounds and make their voices blurry. By staying in a bubble, they can hear their panting breaths, smell their fragrant hair and even feel the subtle air flow. So when people put the bubbles on, and try to communicate with each other, their voices are oscillating. The shifty sounds bounce off the bubbles and become a little fuzzy yet more intriguing to hear. They would make constant eye contact while talking and attempt to feel others’ emotions. Their talks were peaceful and relaxed.
